Though it was a rainy, gloomy day in Miami on Saturday, December 5, the spirits of the world’s most elite fashionistas could not be dampened. And while those who thought they were in the know were most likely spotted Baseling about the beach, those VIPs who are the true international trendsetters understood that the only place to be on Saturday night was at the sprawling estate of JR and Loren Ridinger, Casa de Suenos.
As the ultimate icon for couture collections, Haute Living’s fashion ambassador Loren, along with Versace and Vogue, hosted a runway show with sultry fashionistas prancing the catwalk in Versace’s 2010 Spring/Summer collections. It was an exclusive, red carpet showcase to be sure, with celebrity faces showing their support. Of course the Ridingers’ best friends, Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony, were in attendance, roped off in their own special box so as to avoid any menacing fans who could have slipped passed the guards, though the chances of that happening were as slim as slipping past Secret Service at a White House State Dinner—oh wait, security at the Ridigners’ event was tighter than that. Celebrity criminal defense attorney Roy Black, along with his entertaining wife Lea, were also spotted in the crowd along with Alicia and Mike Piazza; Larsa and Scottie Pippen; Vanessa Williams; and Haute Living cover profile Russell Simmons.
And though the daytime showers brought on an unusual windy winter chill, the guests continued to heat things up under the appreciated protection of the tents well into the wee hours of the morning, demonstrating without a doubt that a good time was had by all.
Loren told Haute Living’s elite audience in her most recent column, “I’ve been so enamored with the fun and funky designs that [Versace] has been producing that I could not resist the idea of hosting a fashion show at my home to preview the Spring/Summer collection,” said Ridinger. “Without a doubt, this is one of Donatella’s most exciting collections yet, as it highlights everything sexy and fun about being a female. Backstage at one of her shows, she attributed her inspiration for the collection to Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland, which debuts in March 2010.”
