This week, the gigantic $8.5 billion dollar CityCenter will begin to open in stages on the Vegas strip. The first hotel to open? The Vdara, which will be followed by the 500,000-square-foot Crystals on Thursday, then the 392-room Mandarin Oriental on Saturday, and the centerpiece of the project on December 16, Aria. Aria has 16 new restaurants with Celebrity Chefs like Michael Mina, Masa Takayama, and Jean-Georges Vongerichten. The CityCenter website is a modest one, proclaiming it “the Capital of the New World.”
