Altuzarra has a Love Child in Heart of Miami

On Saturday December 5, 2009, Joseph Altuzarra, regarded as the Godfather to New York hipsters, hosted a cocktail party showcasing his Spring/Summer 2010 Collection. The event held during the height of Art Basel was at The Webster, the luxury 20,000 square feet luxury multibrand fashion store located in the heart of Miami.

The refreshingly modest and talented 26-year-old Joseph Altuzarra welcomed an avant-garde list of trendsetting international guests: founding Webster partners: Frederic Dechnik, Laure Heriard Dubreuil; Leigh Lezark and Geordon Nicol of the Misshapes; Melanie Huynh, Derek Blasberg, Sebastian Puga, Nina Popova, Valentina Micchetti, Timothee Verrecchia, Nicole Lazar, Gigi Ganatra, Alex Duff, Johnny Misheff, Lisa Lupinski, Sophia Lamar, Lisa Lavora, Stephanie Tran, Lisa Louvre, Andrew Bradfield and Barnabé Hardy.

Over Veev and citrus cocktails, guests took in the soft and sensual elements of ALTUZARRA Spring/Summer 2010 collection. Altuzarra designed a custom bodysuit of pink and white dotted swiss chiffon, sangalo lace and washed silk georgette exclusively for The Webster.

In natural tones of tan, chestnut, khaki, pale pink and white, The Spring Summer 2010 collection brings to mind wicker chair inspired bib-fronts, and a modern twist to rustic Parisian peasantry with hints of asymmetrical binding yet fluid movement. The look is finished with platform sandals, balancing the soft silhouette with a solid base.

According to in-house sources “The Spring Summer 2010 collection draws its inspiration from the ‘70’s: disillusionment reversed by freedom, love, and sexual awakening as shown in Barbet Schroeder’s “More” or Just Jaekin’s “Emmanuelle”. It is a reflection on the resilience of innocence.”
