Golf Champion Fred Couples Sells his Montecito Home

News | October 5, 2009

Golf champion, Fred Couples, has sold his 11,000 square foot home located in the Santa Barbara-area community of Montecito for $9.56 million after being listed for a significantly higher, yet unsuccessful, $12.5 million last year.  The two-story home was built in 1939 and Mr. Couples paid $4 million for it in 1999.

The new owners of this home will enjoy an impressive 9 bedrooms and 7 and a half bathrooms, an arched front entry, a formal dining room with a beamed ceiling, and a master suite that includes a sitting and office space. The property rests on 5 acres of land and has stunning ocean views from almost any angle.
There is also a 2,300 square foot guesthouse with 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a kitchen. For outdoor enjoyment, the owners have access to a putting green courtesy of the golf champion himself, a tennis court, rose gardens, and a swimming pool.

Mr. Couples recently moved to La Quinta, California having successfully sold his Montecito estate.
