Eva Longoria Parker Talks to Haute Living

Fashion wasn’t the only industry ruling the streets of Miami Beach this past weekend. Charity events, hosted by America’s favorite celebrities, were also on the lips of those in the know in Florida’s most magical city.

On Friday morning, Desperate Housewife Eva Longoria Parker landed on our sunny shores, along with best friends and Haute Ambassadors, JR and Loren Ridinger, to officially announce the Rally for Kids with Cancer Scavenger Cup Miami.

As Eva told Haute Living for the cover story of the October/November issue, “I got involved with the Rally because it puts the ‘fun’ back in fundraising. It merges fun and glamour with the goal of raising money for kids with cancer.”

On Friday, November 20, drivers who have raised at least $25,000 from sponsors and donors will meet and recruit a celebrity navigator, whom they will pair with on Saturday for a scavenger hunt around the city in some haute luxury autos. Adam Rodríguez and Eva La Rue from CSI: Miami Amaury Nolasco from Prison Break, Robin Antin founder of The Pussycat Dolls, hairstylist Ken Paves, former World Heavyweight Champion Lennox Lewis, and supermodel Elsa Benitez are among some of the celebrity names earning attention for the cause.

Eva and Loren told reporters on Friday afternoon at the Eden Roc Hotel in Miami Beach that all children should be given the opportunity to lead full and happy lives. Cecilia Perez of the eponymous haute couture label and Joel Hock from Solutions with Impact also showed their support from the stage.

Eva, as the Rally honorary chair (and ecstatic winner of the L.A. Rally event), and Loren, as the event chair, came in town for the media announcement, as well as to host an exclusive cocktail party on Friday night at the Ridinger’s waterfront estate, Casa de Sueños, providing guests and potential sponsors with more details about the race around the city. The Rally for Kids with Cancer Scavenger Cup Miami benefits Jackson Memorial Foundation, International Kids Fund, and Holtz Children’s Hospital.
