A Stay at Madonna’s Old Pad

An Edwardian villa in Sheffield Terrace, Kensington W8, is listed for rent for just over $20,000 a week. But what renters in London don’t know is that once upon a time everyone’s favorite Material Girl Madonna lounged around in her pajamas, played with her sons and daughters, and laid her head to rest at night in this posh pad.

The 5,700-square-foot, double-fronted luxury estate features a stunning barrel-vaulted reception room, retracting cinema screen, stained glass windows, and a separate pool house. Dispersed throughout four floors are seven bedrooms and six baths, with a beautiful garden and garden house in the back yard.

The Queen of Pop lived here for two years as she continued her hunt for a London home that was up to par with all her requests. This time also coincided with her blossoming relationship with director Guy Ritchie, whose comings and goings caused a stir in the UK media during the “Sheffield years.”

Oh yeah, and the home was burglarized twice while she slept here, too. The second time, both Lourdes and baby Rocco were on the premises as the thieves stole the keys to Ritchie’s Range Rover and drove off with other personal items. I’m sure the next owner will invest in some better locks for the garden garage and pool house, which was how the burglars gained access both times.
