“The SkyLodge is an eco-friendly, LEED-certified digital theater and apartment wherein every piece of furniture was hand built by First Impressions, and all electronic systems, the theater lighting control, and security were engineered by our company and installed 1,500 miles away.”

Going to the movies is a long-standing American tradition; from family film nights to first dates, virtually everyone has gone to see at least a flick or two in their lifetime. And now, thanks to modern, state-of-the-art technology and visionary interior artists, the popularity of custom home theaters has transformed this beloved pastime into one of opulent luxury. Though there are many home theater installation and design companies available, we recommend the one that offers all-inclusive service from start to finish: First Impressions Theme Theatres.

Since 1975, FITT and its team of artisans have been dedicated to producing the world’s finest high performance, hyper-plush, private digital cinemas for the most discerning clientele. The company is the nation’s one-and-only multi-licensed architectural and design firm. With 34 years in the industry, FITT has become one of the most sought-after companies in the field and has worked with a plethora of celebrities, dignitaries, and bon vivants. “What we do is not for everyone,” explains CEO Jeffrey Smith. “But it is for a select few, all of whom can agree that a home theater is the most unique and most expensive room per square foot in their home.”

Just as movies are a form of artistic expression, so too are the theaters in which they are viewed. With this in mind, FITT always places an emphasis on its clients’ design objectives, and promises to transform their visions—regardless of how fantastical they may be—into stunning realities. With a 32,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Miami that offers in-house millwork and upholstering manufacturing, no task is too large for the highly trained team of FITT artisans.

With more than 10 different reclining chair models to choose from and limitless design motifs available, the creative options FITT offers are literally infinite. Pictured here, this South Florida theater features Italian-inspired design accents, exuding a regal ambiance filled with luscious red theater drapes and demure gold accents. For a more contemporary aesthetic, the bottom right theater mixes tiger prints with opulent gold and wood coffered ceilings, resulting in a perfectly balanced mix of old-world glamour and mod-chic charm.

FITT has completed innumerable projects during its reign, but Smith admits the project that he is personally most proud of is the theater and interior he designed for his daughter at her home in Denver, Colorado. This theater is a one-of-a kind piece of art and a beautiful collaboration between father and daughter. “The SkyLodge is an eco-friendly, LEED-certified digital theater and apartment wherein every piece of furniture was hand built by First Impressions, and all electronic systems, the theater lighting control, and security were engineered by our company and installed 1,500 miles away,” explains Smith.

While the interior design is integral to any home theater, the technology is of equal importance. All FITT theaters now offer “Cinemascope,” the same a wide aspect ratio movie theater screen one would find in a commercial auditorium. In the near future all FITT theaters will have the ability to download movies via the satellite/cable provider and offer 3-D digital cinema, which Smith claims “will absolutely blow people away when they see it.”

With FITT’s unrivalled all-inclusive services, it comes as no surprise that the company is recruited to travel all over the world for their installation projects, which generally take anywhere from four to six months to complete, a small time span considering all of the materials that must be transported, installed, and executed with perfection. Costs of theater rooms range from $150,000 to upwards of $500,000 and are filled with quality craftsmanship and details making them worth every penny. Upon completion of a project, FITT goes so far as printing tickets emblazoned with the name of the client’s theater for the “opening night” screening.

With its unrivaled artistry and design, state-of-the-art technology, superior quality and service, and quick turnaround time, FITT is just the ticket you need to elevate any residence to opulent new heights.
