The First Glimpse of Wanders-land

The Mondrian Hotel quietly opened it doors to guests two days ago, but the official grand opening will take place during Art Basel. The Mondrian will fill a luxury niche that has been heretofore neglected. With a concept the Morgans Hotel Group and design by award-winning Dutch designer Marcel Wanders, the result is youthful yet classic. Wanders gave an intimate interview and tour of the property, offering the first inside glimpse of the spectacular decor. Because, while we all have been hearing for the past two years about how the contemporary interior with the retro-inspired touches results in a surreal Alice in Wonderland vibe, as they say, seeing is believing.

The enormous property has been causing a buzz since it was first announced years ago. The off-the-beaten-hotel-track locale and the FIRST residences from the Morgans Hotel Group has had publications across the country singing its praises long ago. We, too, are guilty of that. More than once. And now the property is here! And open! Instead of a large-scale, out-of-control hotel opening, the powers that be at Mondrian are opting for a series of smaller, more intimate events to roll out the hotel. Expect the exclusive invites to hit your mailboxes in the coming weeks. And expect it to be one of the hautest places to be during Art Basel, as the international VIPs will surely descend upon the property to check out the amazing designs of the award-winning Wanders.
