The Haute Blog has been keeping an eye on the Queen Elizabeth 2 as she prepared to make her final sea voyage. The ship sailed for 16 days, going by way of Lisbon, Rome, and the Egyptian port of Alexandria.  Today Britain’s most famous cruise ship docked for the last time, in Dubai. A welcoming party, led by a mega-yacht owned by Dubai’s ruler, met the ship in the Persian Gulf and once in the port, the QE2 was greeted with music and fireworks. Tomorrow Cunard will hand over ownership of the QE2 to Nakheel, an arm of the Dubai World conglomerate. The ship will be reincarnated as a luxury hotel after undergoing two to three years of renovations, and will become a distinctive travel destination in Dubai.
