Vuitton and Connery= One Haute Duo

Vuitton and Connery, both iconic as staples in the world of see and be seen (though I couldn’t tell you who showed up on Sir Connery’s arm at the last awards show) have united for famed fashion house Louis Vuitton’s latest ad. The house has a history of picking high profile celebrities in the classic sense, bringing fourth an aura of old world Hollywood glamour and classic vintage that is often thought to be lost in the world of commercial limbo. Previous candidates for the advertisement include the likes of Keith Richards, Mikhail Gorbachev, and more recently Francis Ford Coppola and his daughter Sofia. Photographed by, you guessed it, Annie Leibovitz, this ad will make onlookers drool; whether over either Connery or the water proof version of Vuitton’s Keepall bag casually thrown to his bare feet, we’ll never know. Antoine Arnault, Vuitton’s director of communications said, “I wish I looked like that at 78 years old,” continuing, “He’s sexier than ever.” I assume I’m correct in saying many will agree. The good news is the arrival is near. The ad is slated for release sometime this month for fall’s 007 feature, The Quantum of Solace. Though Daniel Craig is presented a challenge in following Connery’s memorable days as Fleming’s James Bond, his first attempt was applauded. A Luis Vuitton ad for Craig? Perhaps someday, we’ll just have to wait and see.
