Brad Pitt at Design Miami/…in Switzerland

Yesterday, philanthropist and Hollywood superstar Brad Pitt indulged in a minor shopping spree at the third annual Design Miami/, a world-renowned cultural event celebrating the best in design. Currently being held in the Markthalle Basel, Europe’s third largest dome, Design Miami/ features installments from over 20 international galleries, and brings together some of the world’s most influential dealers, designers, curators, and collectors. Hence Mr. Pitt’s visit; the beloved actor walked away with a few prized possessions, including 2 Max Lamb Proze Poly Chairs designed by Atelier van Lieshout.
The celebrity art collector, who dropped a whopping $25,000 for each Lieshout chair, is no stranger to contemporary art; he and his celebrity-turned-philanthropist wife Angelina Jolie have been known to spend a pretty penny on contemporary art (upwards of $226,000 for a single work). Pitt slipped out of France yesterday (where he and his wife currently reside) to attend Switzerland’s most prestigious international art show.
