Aspen’s priciest homes tip the scales at millions of dollars

Newsflash: Aspen is home to some of the world’s priciest homes!
OK, OK. We know that isn’t exactly earth-shattering information, especially to Haute Bloggers who have experienced Aspen’s majesty first hand. But The Aspen Daily News recently compiled a list of Aspen’s most expensive single-family homes, and the list is extravagant.
More than 20 homes in all are valued at $20 million or more, including a Top-10 List that ranges from $28 million to $88 million. Moreover, the story notes the marked increase in value, as prior to 2006, only six homes in Aspen had sold for more than $15 million. How those times have changed. Now, homes are selling for as much as $2,000 per square foot.
Robert Frank, who wrote “Richistan: A Journey Through the American Wealth Boom and the Lives of the New Rich,” and who writes “The Wealth Report” for The Wall Street Journal, offered these bright prospects for Colorado’s jewel: “Long term, Aspen real estate will continue to appreciate. The number of rich people in the U.S.and around the world will continue to grow, and there is only one Aspen.”
