Martin Margulies talks about his view of art

Martin Margulies is no stranger to the South Florida art scene. The Margulies Collection at the Warehouse, located at 591 NW 27th Street in the trendy Wynwood Arts District in downtown, has already carved a niche out for itself as one of the most vast and varied collections in South Florida.

But Margulies, who built Bal Harbour staple the Kenilworth more than 30 years ago, and who recently built 1904 Bentley BayBellini Bal Harbour, recently sat down, with Art Basel Miami Beach upon us, to speak about his approach in collecting some of the most prized works of art around.

Martin’s influence on the Miami art scene is prominent – and still growing. In listening to him speak with great passion about the subject, it is obvious that art plays an important part of his life.

Watch the accompanying video, and you’ll immediately understand the raw emotion that is captured in Margulies’ collection. Each piece is unique, yet practical despite their one-of-a-kind nature.

To see the art world through Margulies’ eyes would be ideal. But to see the art that Margulies’ eyes approve is a perfectly acceptable alternative.
