What is 7,000 square feet costs a little under $10 million and has 30 feet skyscraper ceilings? That would be Sol Kerzner’s new condo wonderland in the heart of Chelsea, Manhattan. Kerzner purchased the apartment for his daughter Beverly. Recently converted by designers Gina Alvarez and Stefan Boubill of the Apartment design firm from a colossal basketball court to a now lush triplex, the mega mansion in the sky boasts five bedrooms and five baths with monstrous windows, a banquet-sized kitchen, outpost studio (perfect for housekeeping staff), and a media room/home theater. That all sounds lovely, but turns out Beverly and her father are keeping the kitchen and bath as is, and gutting everything else. But that’s okay, because if we can remember correctly, Kerzner is the South African hotel tycoon that developed such mega resorts as Sun City in South Africa and the Atlantis in the Bahamas, so there is little doubt that he has many divine design tricks up his sleeves just waiting to astound us.
