Marchesa designer Georgina Chapman is trying her hand at the movie business and will direct a short film for Project Imaginat10n, the first “photography-inspired” film festival. Chapman might want to prepare for some constructive, voluble criticism from her notoriously opinionated husband Harvey Weinstein, the producer behind seminal indie film (and Oscar) factory Miramax and, now, The Weinstein Company.
Chapman’s short will expand upon a photograph submitted by a lucky civilian in a contest whose winners will be announced next year. “What an amazing opportunity to do something like direct a movie and step out of your creative comfort zone and yet do something that is also so familiar at the same time,” Chapman told WWD. She went on to say that Weinstein laughed when she told him about the cinematic undertaking. Actors Jamie Foxx and Eva Longoria will also be stepping behind the camera for the Project Imaginat10n experiment.
