If you’re looking to take a different approach to happy hour this spring, look no further than the series of cocktail classes The Langham, New York will be featuring. Pete Stanton, Head Bartender at Bar Fiori, the hotel’s destination bar and lounge, will be showing guests how to be their own mixologist through a variety of different courses.

Launching on April 28, these classes are open to the public for a price of $75 per person, which includes the cost of participation in the class and complimentary small bites prepared by Chef Scott Schneider and Pastry Chef Rachel Pancho. The first three class themes are:

  • Negroni Workshop on April 28
    • This class will focus on working with Italian bitter liqueurs, specifically amari, and will include a history about how bitters are made and the variations on this classic cocktail that exist, which will inspire attendees to come up with their own creative versions.
  • The Daiquiri and Tiki Drinks on May 19
    • A topic close to Pete’s heart, this class will give insight into how rum has played a part in American history, and the birth of both the daiquiri and of tiki culture as a trend. This lesson on the classic daiquiri will allow you to put your own tiki stamp on it to make it a signature cocktail at your next party.
  • American Whiskey Classics on June 16
    • Perfect timing for Father’s Day, this class will trace back through the history of American-made whiskeys, including an in-depth look at regional styles, and a tutorial on how to make the two drinks that every bartender aims to perfect – the Old Fashioned and the Manhattan.
