Celebrate Christmas In The City Tonight With Julian Edelman
If you have ever wanted to meet New England Patriots Wide Receiver Julian Edelman, tonight is your chance. He will be hosting a public reading of his new children’s book, Flying High 2, at the Christmas in the City Celebrity Holiday Tree & Wreath Auction from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Seaport Hotel.
Flying High 2 is the story of a passionate squirrel and his teammates as they embark on the journey of a lifetime competing in the Super Bowl, and the importance of their mantra, “You Gotta Believe.” (The book will be available for online purchase on Friday).
All of the proceeds from tonight’s event goes to Christmas in the City, which supports and mentors Boston’s homeless population by providing more than 18,000 children in need with toys and other items during the holiday season.
The sixth annual event will feature silent and live auctions, and guests are invited to bring one, new unwrapped toy to donate to the toy drive to assist children in need. Edelman will also auction off a Julian Edelman-themed Christmas tree and signed copies of his book.
Christmas in the City assists families in need in Boston by serving up a winter wonderland experience, complete with lunch, pony rides, free dental check-ups, haircuts, amusement park bouncy slides, entertainment from choirs and dancers and pictures with Santa to thousands of children and their moms or guardians who are living in homeless shelters or transitional housing. They also help families in need in the days after the event itself, leading up to and including Christmas Eve. Each child receives a gift from their wish list, with a label letting them know it was selected especially for them by Santa (with a little help from Christmas in the City’s generous donors).
If you can’t make the event tonight, you can still help out by dropping off some toys at The Seaport Hotel to benefit Christmas in the City.
