This year marks the 45th anniversary of the American Music Awards, which will be broadcast live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on November 19th. As the largest fan-voted awards show, the American Music Awards lets listeners vote on their favorite artists across pop, rock, country and hip hop.

It’s a male-heavy lineup this year. Bruno Mars leads the nominations with eight in total, including Artist of the Year, Video of the Year and Favorite Male Artist—Pop/Rock. Also ranking high with five nominations each are The Chainsmokers, Drake, Kendrick Lamar, Ed Sheeran and The Weeknd tied with five nominations each. And Justin Bieber, Daddy Yankee and Luis Fonsi each received four nominations.

Nominees are selected based on fan interactions, album and digital song sales, radio airplay and touring. The Artist of the Year nominees are Bruno Mars, The Chainsmokers, Drake, Kendrick Lamar and Ed Sheeran will compete for the Artist of the Year prize.

The artist of the year will be an incredibly competitive category this year based. Bruno Mars’ third full-length album 24K Magic debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart. A number of hits from the record have made the Billboard Hot 100 including “24K Magic,” “That’s What I Like,” and “Versace on the Floor.” The Weeknd’s Starboy album debuted at Number 1 on the Billboard 200 in December of 2016. Drake’s More Life was his seventh album to debut at No. 1 on the chart. And Kendrick Lamar earned his second No. 1 album with DAMN. Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You” debuted at No.1 and held steady for 12 weeks. And The Chainsmokers had three songs reach the Billboard Hot 100 this past year.

In the female categories, artists including Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Kehlani, Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert will compete for a top prize.

Voting for Artist of the Year closes on November 16 and voting for all other categories will close on November 13. Vote now for all categories at theamas.com/vote.
