Boston’s Stylish Copley Place Is About To Get Even Better

Boston’s most stylish shopping center, Copley Place, has recently undergone a massive transformation complete with new entrance, fixtures, and retailers paving the way for high end fashion boutiques that have either already opened or will be opening later this fall. Keep an eye out for the famous red-sold designs of Christian Louboutin, Saint Laurent’s haute couture, Italian leather goods from TOD’s and APM Monaco’s contemporary jewelry collection.

Several existing retailers, including Salvatore Ferragamo, David Yurman and Jimmy Choo, relocated to the newly renovated Center Court debuting expanded flagship stores. (Dior also expanded its current location and opened earlier this month).

This Back Bay luxe shopping mecca is home to 50 luxury retailers, including Neiman Marcus, Barneys New York, Tiffany & Co.,Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior and Versace, as well as The Westin Copley Place and Marriott Boston Copley Place hotels. “Jimmy Choo is already open as well as Dior, Saint Laurent and Salvatore Ferragamo,” said Simon Property Group’s Director of Mall Marketing Debora Konig. “David Yurman will be opening soon at the beginning of October and Christian Louboutin in November.”

Why did the shopping center decide to renovate? “Copley Place is over 30 years old, so it was time,” Konig said. “You could see how worn our floors were and it was very dark inside. Copley Place is the high end luxury center in Back Bay, so we tried to find the right mix of luxury for this market. Many of the brands wanted to unveil their first Boston location here. We completely redid the center court and transformed the southwest corridor entrance to Back Bay Station with new floors, ceilings and hand rails. The project started in early 2016 and by this fall, we will be completely done.”

Other beautiful modifications include “High Street” storefronts with floor-to-ceiling window displays, new flooring and ceiling treatments, upgraded escalators, glass handrails, a new family restroom, energy-efficient upgrades including LED lighting, and a more modern look throughout the entire shopping center.

In November, Christian Louboutin will open its first haute red-soled boutique in Boston on Copley Place’s Lower Level that will also carry men’s shoes, bags and leather goods. Also in November, keep an eye out for APM Monaco, which will open across from Louis Vuitton featuring contemporary fashion jewelry.
