She may only be 19 years old, but Hailee Steinfeld has been carefully cultivating superb taste since the age of 13, when she made her film debut—and scored an Academy Award Best Supporting Actress nomination to boot—in the Coen brothers’ 2010 film, True Grit. Steinfeld, who has also appeared in films like Begin Again and Pitch Perfect 2 (which kick-started her current secondary career as a pop star; she’s now on tour with Meghan Trainor), is also a bonafide fashionista, who has been awarded and feted for her fashion choices. We caught up with the starlet while she was promoting Swarovski’s Crystaldust collection (she’s a friend of the brand) at the brand’s Turn Up the Style launch event to chat about film, fashion and her first truly big luxury purchase.

What do you love most about being a Swarovski brand ambassador? I love getting to represent such a timeless brand.
Fill in the blank: I love a LOT of sparkle when I am on stage.
Fill in the blank: GOOD BROWS are a girl’s best friend.
Singing or acting and why? Don’t make me choose!
What was your first luxury purchase? A Burberry handbag. It’s still in my closet!
What was the first thing you bought yourself after your Academy Award nomination? Pancakes at the Four Seasons Hotel because as soon as we found out I had been nominated, I had to go to the hotel to do interviews!
Your favorite film to shoot thus far and why? The Edge of Seventeen, because I got to hash out being a teen one more time.
What fashion brands besides Swarovski are you currently obsessed with? I’m currently obsessed with Off White, Elie Saab and DSquared2.
