Victoria Beckham and Naomi Campbell Awarded at Fashion 4 Dev. Event
The exterior of New York’s Pierre Hotel was flanked with black cars delivering guests this Monday for the 5th Annual Ladies luncheon and awards ceremony hosted by Fashion 4 Development a philanthropic organization which aims to assist women (and children) in developing countries. Sponsors included, the Italian fashion house, Genny, jeweler, Hueb and Value Retail. Attendees were fashion industry leaders, political influencers and diplomats from over 100 nations.
The reception began at the Pierre’s Cotillion room with displays from various partners including a massive golden gown from the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s China: Through the Looking Glass exhibit that closed early this month.
The internationally attended affair was intentionally scheduled during The United Nations General Assembly in order to underscore the event’s global appeal.
Awards were presented to Victoria Beckham, Josie Maren and Naomi Campbell. A-list presenters included The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Harold Koda, and Franca Sozzani Editor in Chief of Italian Vogue as well as founder of the organization, Evie Evangelou.
Victoria Beckham received this year’s F4D Award for her pivotal role as a Good Will Ambassador on behalf of UNAIDS recognizing her work from Africa to Asia to raise awareness for Aids.Naomi Campbell received special recognition for her work fighting the Ebola Virus though Fashion For Relief. Model and beauty brand founder, Josie Maris was honored with F4D’s Eco Award for her beauty-eco brand that strives to make the world a better place in all aspects of producing products.
Harold Koda, the former curator from The MET museum, introduced a fashion show by Haute Couture, Chinese designer Guo Pei, who is known for Rhianna’s stunning gown at The 2015 Oscars.
There was another fashion show by the Italian fashion house, Genny and Creative Director, Sara Cavazza Facchini, was on hand to answer questions prior to the luncheon.
Evie Evangelou launched Fashion 4 Development as a media platform working in support of the UN Millennium Development Goals. The organization has reached global recognition in the five years it’s been in existence.
