“Every woman needs a jewel. Something very special and beautiful. There is nothing more stunning than a feminine hand, holding a gem-like object,” says Manolo Blahnik the king of much coveted footwear brand. At his New York boutique, Blahnik launches a capsule collection of six evening clutches all bejeweled with Swarovski crystals on satin crepe de chine exterior. The interior of the bags are lined with leather—to complete the sensual experience when reaching into the bag.
Manolo Blahnik obtained world-wide fame during the TV show, Sex In The City when Carrie Bradshaw revealed what women were already obsessed with—gorgeous shoes. Since that time designer shoes have reached dizzying heights of desirability. Christian Louboutin — the other mega-popular shoe designer who is known for his unique red soled shoes had already delved into cosmetics and handbags. Manolo has kept the focus on shoes for much of his brand’s existence which makes the launch of these objects of desire all the more significant.
The jeweled motifs found on the bags match several of Blahnik’s most popular shoe styles like the “Hangisi,” “Nadira,” “Borlak” and Okkato. The buckle motif’s are bigger and more substantial than on the shoes which add to the drama of the box clutches. After all, these bags will sit on the tables of lavish galas and get even more play and notice than a pair of shoes. They are available today at Manolo’s New York shop which has been a mainstay of the metropolitan city for 15 years. The prices of these little jewel boxes run from $1725 to $1925 and you have to go to the shop to buy them—for now.
