On Monday, June 8th, Claude and Alfred E. Mann hosted invited guests at their private Beverly Hills residence to enjoy An Evening Under the Stars for Innovation and Inspiration, benefitting the Alfred Mann Foundation for Scientific Research and Pediatric Oncology Research at The City of Hope. Maestro Andrea Bocelli, David Foster, Hilary Swank, Larry King, Chef Wolfgang Puck, Quincy Jones, Maestro Eugene Kohn, singer-songwriter Annie Bosko and soprano Maria Aleida and more were among the guests. The exclusive, intimate soiree featured a once in a lifetime opportunity to witness a private concert by Maestro Bocelli, with special guest performances by David Foster, soprano Maria Aleida and singer-songwriter Annie Bosko, right in the comfort of the Mann residence.

LUPUS LA’S ORANGE BALL: A NIGHT OF HEROES

Celebrities, studio executives and supporters of the lupus cause from all backgrounds came together for Lupus LA‘s largest fundraising event of the year, The Orange Ball: A Night of Superheroes yesterday at the iconic New York Street lot at Fox Studios. Event chairs included Jim Gianopulos, chairman and CEO of Fox Filmed Entertainment, Nancy Utley, President of Fox Searchlight Pictures and Lauren Shuler Donner, acclaimed film producer. The event raised $575,000 for lupus research and local patient programs. The evening was filled with excitement from beginning to end, with comedian Michael Yo as the host and performances from singer Serayah, from the hit Fox series Empire and the one and only Seal! Joining Michael B. Jordan, other celebrities who showed their support for lupus included singer and Lupus LA board member Toni Braxton, legendary star Sylvester Stallone, actress Ahna O’ReillyPretty Little Liars’ star Shay Mitchell, New Girls’ Hannah SimoneDancing With The Stars’ Karina SmirnoffJustified’s Joelle Carter, EXTRA correspondent  and Lupus LA ambassador Terri Seymour, actress and Lupus LA ambassador Taylor Spreitler, director/screenwriter Ryan Coogler, actress Kristen Renton, actress Tasha Smith,  actor Gregg Daniel, actor and Lupus LA ambassador Scott Grimes, actress and Lupus LA ambassador Parminder Nagra, actor Jason Gray-Stanford, actress and Lupus LA ambassador Meredith Monroe among many others! On Saturday, June 6th, Pottery Barn Kids and fashion designer Jenni Kayne celebrated their upcoming collection launch with a kid-friendly afternoon soiree at Gracias Madre restaurant in West Hollywood. Celebrity guests including actresses Julie Bowen (with her children), Busy Philipps, Soleil Moon Frye (with her daughters), actors Rebecca Gayheart Dane and husband Eric Dane (with their daughter), actor Jason Bateman, actor Dave Annable and expectant wife Odette Annable, actress Elizabeth Berkley and husband Greg Lauren (with their son), and comedian/actor Johnny Knoxville and wife Naomi Nelson (with their children), enjoyed kid-friendly activities and snacks including face painting, temporary tattoos, a balloon artist, a beanbag toss game and a DIY craft. Additional notables came out to preview the Pottery Barn Kids X Jenni Kayne Collection, including celebrity jewelry designer Jennifer Meyer, actor Greg Vaughan and his wife model/actress Touriya Haoud (with their son), actress Ione Sky, Baby2Baby co-founder’s Kelly Sawyer and Norah Weinstein, and celebrity stylist and interior designer Estee Stanley, among others.

MINI CLASSIC GOLF TOURNAMENT

Brooks Brothers partnered with St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital to host their first-ever MINI CLASSIC Golf Tournament to benefit the organization. There were nine holes, placed throughout the store on both floors, with “clubby” treats served including mini lobster rolls and mini club sandwiches. Additionally there was an ice cream cart and a “10th Hole Candy Bar” on the upper level. BAFTA Los Angeles and the HM Consul General Chris O’Connor, OBE, hosted the organization’s 28th annual spring garden party on June 7th at the British Consul General’s home. Newly appointed BAFTA LA CEO Chantal Rickards was in attendance, as well as British Consul General Chris O’Connor, BAFTA LA Chairman Kieran Breen, producer Gareth Neame and musician Matt Goss.

Guests joined EEM to on Wednesday evening to welcome the second edition of the Longines Masters of Los Angeles to California at the Petit Ermitage firedeck rooftop. Presenting sponsor Jaeger-LeCoultre celebrated the opening night of the 21st annual Los Angeles Film Festival and LA premiere of Paul Weitz’s Grandma starring Lily Tomlin, Julia Garner, Marcia Gay Harden, Judy Greer and Laverne Cox on June 10th.  For the second year, Jaeger-LeCoultre will give its Jaeger-LeCoultre Glory to the Filmmaker Awardpaying tribute to a filmmaker who has brought great innovation to contemporary cinema.This year’s recipient is Gale Anne Hurd (The Terminator, Aliens, Armageddon, The Walking Dead).

THE STEP UP INSPIRATION AWARDS

Step Up feted Elizabeth Banks, Hudson Jeans CEO Peter Kim, and graduating senior Maria Soto on Friday, June 5, at its 12th annual Inspiration Awards held at the Beverly Hilton. The luncheon welcomed more than 800 guests and is estimated to have raised more than $400,000 for the organization’s after-school programs that mentor teen girls from under-resourced communities. The honorees were recognized for their professional and philanthropic achievements that inspire women to inspire girls.Banks’s Pitch Perfect 2 co-stars Skylar Astin and Ester Dean presented her with the Inspiration Award, describing her as a “mentor” and “flashlight.” Banks’s husband Max Handelman also turned out in support. Kim was lauded by Silicon Valley actress Amanda Crew for beginning the Los Angeles-based Hudson Jeans and for his philanthropic commitment to Step Up and the community. The program was emceed by Cristela Alonzo and featured presenters Julie Bowen, Lea Michele and Dermalogica’s Jane Wurwand. Bowen helped raise more than $80,000 onsite in mere minutes, thanks to her hilarious tactics including auctioning off a kiss for $1,000. The event featured an onsite Hudson Jeans boutique with the brand donating $50 for each pair of jeans sold. Guests including Crew, Dean, Bowen, Lindsey Morgan, Lacey Chabert, Aimee Garcia, Maggie Lawson, Step Up Founder Kaye Popofsky Kramer, CEOJenni Luke and more followed the event’s dress code and wore denim in support of mentorship, creating a more-casual-than-usual Inspiration Awards red carpet.
