London: Fashion East Reveals 3 Designers You Need to See Right Now

With London Fashion Week just around the corner, Fashion East—known for its focus on developing emerging design talent—has named the three designers it will showcase during the capital’s stylish happenings.

Newcomers Caitlin Price and Mary Benson will star alongside second-timer Ed Marler in the initiative which, this year, will involve two presentations (for Price and Benson) and a runway show (for Marler). And with two of the three designers coming from the prestigious BA women’s wear program at Central St. Martins—the very same one that gave us designers such as Alexander McQueen—there can be little doubt that these youngsters are all set to make their mark on the fashion world.

“The team and our panel all feel strongly that young designers need to showcase their collections in the way that suits them best, so this season instead of the usual group runway show I’m excited that we’re accommodating our two brilliant newcomers with presentations that can really draw guests into their world,” said Fashion East founder and director Lulu Kennedy of the decision to change the usual format of the showcase. “We’ll also be showing Ed’s second collection in an intimate salon show – all under one roof at the incredible London’s Institute of Contemporary Arts, one of my favorite places in London,” she added.

Since its inception as a non-profit organisation set up to grow undiscovered British fashion talent, Fashion East has been at the pinnacle of supporting new designers. Previously, the program has nurtured the likes of Simone Rocha, Jonathan Saunders and Roksanda Ilincic, all of whom have gone on to achieve phenomenal individual success. In addition, this year marks Fashion East’s 12th year of being supported by British retailer Topshop.

All three designers will be presenting at 7:30pm on February 20.
