I have some fabulous news for you fashionistas. Luxury brand Ashish (carried by Miami’s favorite shop Oxygene Bal Harbour) has collaborated with TOPSHOP. The two brands are kicking off the Summer season with a quirky and tongue-in-cheek collection with the London based designer Ashish.
This collection, the 10th collaboration from both brands, is entitled ‘Beach, Please!’ and is a play on Ashish’s idea of a dream resort entitled ‘Paradise Hotel’, the logo of which has been embellished on a selection of beach towelling pieces including a hoody and shorts. Towels feature slogans such as ‘Service Please’ and ‘Do Not Disturb” and high cut fluoro swimsuits and bikinis are sexy and stand-out.
Ashish says “I love this collection, it’s perfect for the beach and for pool parties, and they have the best ones at the Paradise Hotel! – I hope it’s going to be as much fun to wear as it has been to design!’
Tapping into the zeitgeist of the celebrity & selfie culture, a selection of truly unique jersey T-shirts come with a fabric pen feature cheeky statements such as ‘My name is… My room number is….’. Towels and bathrobes are audaciously ‘nicked’ from hotel rooms and turned into resort-worthy pieces such as wrap dress and a skirt.
A set of collector pieces featuring LED lights add a bright and dreamy aesthetic to the collection. Buffalo boots with light-up heels, pool sliders, a transparent rucksack and a clutch, are all brought to life with fluoro lights that flash and stream. And finally, to finish the collection off, a towelling eye mask embellished with the slogan ‘Not Now’.
This 10th collaboration in as many years with Ashish reaffirms TOPSHOP’s ongoing support of London design talent, both through the British Fashion Council’s NEWGEN scheme and collaborations. TOPSHOP is dedicated to identifying and nurturing both young and established talent.
