Miami has gone from 0 to 60 in terms of quality art galleries in the last few years. Wynwood has exploded and talent abounds. Here’s where to find the best.
1 Gary Nader Fine Art
The mac-daddy of all Miami galleries, and the only place you can walk in and actually buy a Picasso. Gary Nader focuses on high-level Latin American artists and blue chip art from around the world. Nader’s focus is deeper on the modern than the contemporary (think Wilfredo Lam and Walter Goldfarb) , which is refreshing in a city full of galleries and museums obsessed with contemporary art.

2 Fredric Snitzer Gallery
Fred Snitzer has been in the Miami art scene since the lat 70's - way before the Basel baby boom. As a teacher at the New World School of the Arts, he can sniff out talent early on. He's been called a "kingmaker" which would be an accurate description for the man who brought us Hernan Bas, Naomi Fisher and Bert Rodriguez.

3 Spinello Projects
Anthony Spinello's gallery, Spinello Projects, is as cool as he is, which is to say very. With artists like Manny Prieres, Typoe and Agustina Woodgate, Spinello runs his gallery with a more nurturing than competitive edge. Known for moving his gallery out of "the zone" every time it gets too happening, it's definitely in the zone, he is one of only two local galleries who has been invited to Art Basel.
2930 NW Seventh Ave., Miami (786) 271-4223
4 David Castillo Gallery
Castillo is something of a prodigy. He's a Yale grad who can sell art in five languages and reps talent such as Luis Gispert, Jillian Mayer and the TM Sisters. He is one of only two local galleries invited to Art Basel, which is kind of a big deal.
2234 NW 2nd Avenue Miami, FL 33127 (305) 573-8110
5 Gallery Diet
Run by Nina Johnson, who is the go-to person person in Miami's art world, the Gallery Diet gets props for it's cutting edge programming which is as likely to include performance art as paint and canvas. Props to Gallery Diet for now repping Bhakti Baxter.
