HOTEL DE PARIS
Earlier this February, Hotel de Paris opened in Saint Tropez. Built on the foundation of an 80-year-old building, the hotel’s design nods to romantic and glamorous time periods, such as the 30’s and 60’s, while being thoroughly modern. French interior designer Sybille de Margerie (who also designed The Mandarin Hotel in Paris) and French luminary Alain Guilhot contrasted the 1960’s plexiglass furniture with the warm, Mediterranean lighting from the flower petal chandeliers. The hotel has 52 rooms and 38 suites, each with its own garden terrace and fun touches like iPod docking station in the showers. The arrival of Hotel de Paris illustrates the high-end luxury that has become synonymous with this once-sleepy fishing village.
LA VAGUE D’OR
French master chef Arnaud Donckele, who has was trained by Alain Ducasse himself, is behind the hot restaurant La Vague D’Or. Donckele was awarded his third Michelin star for this restaurant. Its exceptional menu shows the highest caliber of fine French cuisine which is quite literally, art on a plate.
St. Tropez’s newest beach just opened in June of this year. Located in Ramatuelle, Bagatelle has all the trappings of St. Trop’s best: a classic French Mediterranean restaurant, comfy couches and beach side chaise lounges in azure blue. Look for a laidback, fashionable crowd that will, naturally, gravitate to the cote’s newest. This world-famous brand has bistros all over the world in cities like LA, Vegas, and Sao Paulo so if you don’t make it to St. Tropez, give those a try.
Le Suffren Café by Georges
Located inside the newly renovated Hotel de Paris, Le Suffren Café welcomes guests into its French bistrostyle ambience. The walls and ceiling are woven in bamboo, floors are covered in black granite tile, metal chandeliers hang overhead and geometric lemon-yellow curtains surround the room. The dining room leads to an outdoor patio lined with olive trees and summery foliage where guests can dine and enjoy the St. Tropez sun. The menu, orchestrated by 3-star Michelin Chef Georges Blanc and Executive Chef Philippe Guerin, focuses on seasonal, Mediterranean dishes only using the best products from local markets. Le Suffren Café also hosts an impressive wine cellar and is open for lunch and dinner year round.
World-renowed Monégasque chef Alain Ducasse (who has been awarded three Michelin stars) and hotel Byblos in Saint Tropez make a perfect match. Ducasse is behind the newly-opened restaurant Rivea, at Byblos, a colorful hotel that opened earlier this April. Italian decorators Antonio Citterio and Patricia Viel designed the super-chic venue. Ducasse perfectly blends a mixture of locally sourced French and Italian cuisine, such as Swordfish steak with panisses and handmade pasta.
