This week F1 superstar Lewis Hamilton made a surprise appearance at IWC Schaffhausen’s new pop-up exhibition in the Selfridges Wonder Room in London. Hamilton, who is IWC Schaffhausen’s new brand ambassador, was joined by Mercedes AMG Petronas Team Principal Ross Brawn at the launch of the two-week exhibition.
The launch at the prestigious British boutique was attended by approximately 100 members of the UK press, who watched as Hamilton and Brawn tried out the Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula OneTM simulator car in a virtual wind tunnel. The exhibition at Selfridges celebrates the completely remodelled 2013 IWC Ingenieur watch collection, as well as the new partnership with the Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula OneTM Team.
Hamilton and fellow Mercedes AMG Petronas Team member Nico Rosberg were named brand ambassadors in May, further deepening the ties between IWC Schaffhausen and the F1 team. The manufacture is also the Official Engineering Partner to the Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula OneTM Team.
Mercedes AMG Petronas Team Principal Brawn told us, “Both IWC Schaffhausen and Mercedes AMG Petronas place great importance on precision engineering. Our partnership reflects this and highlights our shared commitment to pushing boundaries – both in motor racing and watchmaking.”
The IWC pop-up exhibition will be on display in Selfridges’ Wonder Room until July 7, 2013. To book your place in the Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula OneTM simulator car or for more information, please visit the exhibition’s website. Photos courtesy IWC Schaffhausen.
