Although the California primary is months away, President Barack Obama arrived in the West Coast Wenesday for several fundraising efforts throughout the state. On Thursday, in San Francisco alone, the president’s fundraising generated more than $3 million for his campaign. He is just the latest politician to better his campaign’s bank account through a visit to the Golden State.

According to the Federal Election Commission, Californians have contributed $26,370,051 to 2012 presidential campaigns. It also reports that the president has raised $13,736,477, Mitt Romney has raised $6,611,590 and Ron Paul has raised $1,540,195.

The president attended a small fundraiser Thursday at the Mark Hopkins International Hotel before heading to a private dinner in San Francisco’s Pacific Heights neighborhood. It costed more than $35,000 a ticket for both events.
