Haute Clothing Store: Opening Ceremony

Unlike your typical Los Angeles boutique, Opening Ceremony is one of those stores that seem to pack culture, art and fashion into 10,000 square feet of shopping space. Though you won’t find clothes hanging from the typical rack, you will find that the store is set up like a small shopping palace with different designers showing off their designs.

The store was opened in April of 2007 and features individual shops and showrooms under one roof. The founders of Opening Ceremony, Carol Lim and Humberto Leon, opened up the Los Angeles store to bring this city what stores in Tokyo and New York were already offering fashion addicts and style junkies.

Though the store has been around for a few years, the Los Angeles store is constantly finding ways to reinvent itself by incorporating furniture, fixtures and loads of color to brighten up designers’ displays. The second floor features brands such as TOPSHOP and Band of Outsiders and is set up to look like a mini-mall rather than a Los Angeles boutique.

Since Charlie Chaplin’s old dance studio made the perfect home for Opening Ceremony in Los Angeles, people can’t seem to stop obsessing over the décor and the designers. Don’t worry men, Opening Ceremony hasn’t forgotten about you. Though it may not compare in size, the Los Angeles store does feature a men’s section.

Opening Ceremony is located at 451 N. La Cienega Blvd., West Hollywood, Calif.
