What is flouride?<\/h3>\n

Fluoride is a naturally occurring mineral found in soil, air, and water, and it is known for its ability to prevent cavities and tooth decay. In many countries, including the United States, drinking water supplies contain low levels of fluoride. To maximize its benefits, additional fluoride from fluoridated toothpaste is often recommended. The optimal amount of fluoride for dental health is typically around one part per million, as it helps in the demineralization of teeth.<\/p>\n

If fluoride is consumed excessively, it can lead to the formation of fluorosis stains<\/strong><\/a> on the tooth surface. This commonly occurs when children unknowingly consume water with high levels of fluoride, take excessive fluoride supplements alongside fluoridated water, or swallow large amounts of fluoridated toothpaste during unsupervised brushing.<\/p>\n
