Shampoo, conditioner, and hair treatments - you might think you have your hair routine down pat, following what you were taught since the days of washing your hair independently, but that may not be the case. Every hair type needs to be treated properly \u2013 greasy, porous, dry \u2013 to ensure it achieves the most luscious state.<\/p>\n

Thankfully, for you, Jamie Caruso owner of Salon Lusso of Naples<\/b> <\/a>is here to fill you in on how to properly shampoo your hair. The better the shampoo, the better the blowout (and the longevity of your hair)! Take a minute to review these five steps along with how to treat your hair based on your hair type \u2013 you (and your hair) will be loving these tips later, we promise.<\/p>\n

How to Properly Shampoo Your Hair<\/h3>\n

  1. Ensure the hair is thoroughly saturated with water, making sure there are no dry spots. It should be soaking wet.<\/li>\n
  2. Take a nickel to quarter-sized amount of shampoo and lather it in your hands before applying it to your hair.<\/li>\n
  3. Start by shampooing the roots of your hair and work your way to the ends, making sure to thoroughly cleanse every section.<\/li>\n
  4. Rinse your hair with water until it runs clear and you can no longer feel any suds. If you don't shampoo every day, it's recommended to shampoo twice.<\/li>\n
  5. After shampooing, apply conditioner from roots to ends and leave it on for a few minutes. Then, rinse your hair thoroughly to ensure all the conditioner is removed.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Directions Based on Hair Type<\/h3>\n
      \n
    • If your hair is dry<\/em> and porous<\/em>, you would know because the hair dries immediately out of the shower. I would shampoo less, around 2x's per week.<\/li>\n
    • If you have a dry flaky\u00a0scalp<\/em>, I would wash 2-3 x's per week, however, we do need the natural oils of the scalp to help combat flaky scalp.<\/li>\n
    • If you haven\u2019t\u00a0washed\u00a0in quite a while<\/em> and your hair has a lot\u00a0of oil, using a large amount of shampoo won't make it any cleaner. Give it two thorough\u00a0shampoos.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      So there you have it, the secret to properly shampooing your hair and achieving those luscious locks. Remember, the key is to understand your hair type and treat it accordingly.
