Semaglutide, also known as Ozempic, Wegovy, or Rybelsus, has become one of the hottest topics in the healthcare world today. Originally designed as an anti-diabetic medication that is injected once a week for the treatment of type 2 diabetes to assist with the control of blood sugar levels and lower the risk of heart disease, it has now become one of the most commonly used weight-loss drugs.<\/p>\n

In June 2021, the FDA announced the approval of Semaglutide for weight loss in obesity treatment (BMI >30), and the treatment of overweight patients that\u00a0have associated high-risk medical conditions such as heart disease. Just 11\u00a0months later, Kim Kardashian stunned the world at the Met Gala with her slim\u00a0waist, facial appearance, and resemblant shape of Marilyn Monroe, revealing\u00a0Semaglutide as the secret behind her weight loss and sparking the Ozempic\u00a0craze.<\/p>\n

The hashtag \u201c#OzempicFace\u201d began trending on social media, with individuals sharing the not-so-fetching aftermath of Semaglutide, including facial sagging, aging, changes in color, and overall gauntness. Actual patients began releasing photos and videos of their first-hand accounts with the medication, illustrating the drastic contrast between their pre and post #OzempicFace. The root of this problem is Semaglutide, which depletes the body and skin of vital nutrients and vitamins, while the drug's active ingredient targets collagen, elastin, and fat cells, causing volume loss and skin laxity issues.<\/p>\n
