Eyelid surgery, also called blepharoplasty, can give your eyes a more youthful and refreshed look. But do you know what to expect after the procedure? Since the eyes are a delicate area, the recovery process can be a little daunting. Here Haute Beauty expert Dr. Thomas McNema<\/strong><\/a>r<\/strong> walks you through the recovery process so you can prepare yourself.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Day One<\/h3>\n

Your vision will be blurry after the blepharoplasty<\/strong><\/a> procedure. Prepare to have someone drive you home. When you arrive home, rest your head in an elevated position and avoid strenuous activities.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

At night, sleep on your back with your upper body elevated to avoid any strain on your incisions. Expect your eyelids to feel sore and swollen, you did have surgery! Your eyes may also feel tight, scratchy, watery, and sensitive to light. You can relieve these symptoms by placing a cool pad on your eyes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Week One After Surgery\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

Expect to see a bit of puffiness still and swelling around your eyes. Your incisions are healing, so avoid straining them and keep applying cold compresses as previously directed. Continue to sleep with your head elevated to minimize swelling and help accelerate the healing process. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Two Weeks After Surgery<\/h3>\n

Most patients are ready to go back to their everyday activities after 1 to 2 weeks. It is recommended to limit screen time to avoid straining your eyes. You can apply makeup and resume wearing contact lenses after 2 weeks. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Six Weeks After Surgery<\/h3>\n

You are starting to see the final results! Some mild residual swelling might still be there, but your eyes should look more rejuvenated and refreshed.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
