Everyone remembers having braces. One day, you showed up to middle school with a sore mouth, a lunchbox full of pudding, and a pounding heart for the dreaded debut. Many people come to the prosthodontist wanting this cosmetic prosthetic<\/strong><\/a> only to find out there\u2019s more going on than just some misshapen teeth, and avoiding these issues can lead to long term health concerns, according to Dr. Deakins. \u201cAfter performing our detailed, comprehensive examination, we may find that there are issues with the back teeth such as decay, tooth wear, or tooth erosion.\u201d<\/p>\n

Luckily, those who receive this prognosis are already in the right place. It may be tempting to forget the bad news and skip straight to the part where you have a celebrity smile. But doing so can cause trouble down the road. \u201cIf left untreated, these issues can lead to the need for future root canals, tooth extractions, and instability in the bite,\u201d says Dr. Deakins.<\/p>\n
