Dr. Deepa Verma<\/strong><\/a> is double board-certified in family medicine and integrative holistic medicine. She graduated magna cum laude from The College of NJ and is a graduate of Rutgers Medical School in New Jersey (formerly known as Robert Wood Johnson Medical School). The system works to protect our bodies from \"foreign invaders\" that can make us sick, cause infection, and present diseases. 1. Our immune system has a memory like no other. It remembers every single germ and microbe that our immune system has ever taken on. So if it reenters the body, our immune system will immediately fend off the microbe before it even has a slight chance of infecting your body. Pretty neat, huh?<\/p>\n

2. The immune system is made up of the innate immune system and the adaptive immune system. The innate immune system is a defense system we are born with, whereas the adaptive one develops once exposed to microbes.<\/p>\n

3. When your body temperature fluctuates and reaches the higher end of the scale, you might get a fever. Though we might believe this means we are experiencing an attack on our immune system, this is a sign that our immune system is functioning. When our body temperature rises, it is preparing to kill certain microbes.<\/p>\n
