While one might believe hair loss is directly correlated with age, it's not always. When going through the hair restoration process, regardless of your age, it is important to ask all the questions you might have. One in particular is, does hair restoration prevent you from growing gray hairs? To find out the answer, Haute Beauty asked their Haute Beauty experts. Here's what they had to say:<\/p>\n

Hair restoration unfortunately does not prevent gray hairs from growing in. When we do transplants, if there is a significant amount of gray hair, I will temporarily dye it to facilitate visualization during the transplant process. Of course, once transplanted, gray hairs can be colored to the desired shade. Interestingly, there is a leukemia drug, Gleevac, that unexpectedly darkened gray hair but because of its side effects (heart and liver damage), it is unlikely to be used widely for color correction.<\/p>\n

From a practical standpoint, what can be currently used for gray hair restoration? Stress reduction of course. It's true that stress or shock can literally turn hair white (remember Obama's first year in office?). Metformin, a prescription diabetes drug has been proven to prevent premature aging. There are a few over the counter supplements that can reverse graying process: the TA-65 form of astragalus (available in the Toyos Clinic Optimal Aging<\/strong><\/a>), resveratrol (found in foods and red wine) and NMN (nicotinamide mononucleotide) are also strongly associated with significant age-reversal effects including re-pigmentation of gray hair. So take your supplements, take your vacations and raise a glass to a darker head of hair!<\/p>\n
