And like any taxing profession, working long hours stimulating a swarm of partygoers can lead to poor habits. Of course, no one understands this better than Zane Lowe, a performing DJ and the Global Creative Director at Apple Music. After noticing his career put a strain on his personal life, the 47-year-old entertainer began taking care of himself physically and mentally. Here\u2019s how:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Practice Yoga<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As most yogis know, practicing yoga does wonders for the mind, body, and soul. Naturally, Lowe swears by it. \u201c<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I love it because of the breathing,\u201d he told <\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.menshealth.com\/health\/a36956096\/zane-lowe-mental-health-routine\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Men\u2019s Health<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. \u201cI tried it a few times, but it didn\u2019t really connect. I wasn\u2019t ready for it. I wasn\u2019t willing to breathe. I could do the physical things but I was like \u2018I\u2019m not getting the benefits here,\u2019 and it\u2019s because I hadn\u2019t learned about the breathing really. And the breathing is the thing.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Avoid Overworking Oneself<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Though Lowe loves his job, he confessed to his old tendency to overwork himself. On a recent segment of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/tv\/CQ1dwBEn36U\/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;ig_rid=d7f16456-249a-435f-aeb0-87654c7a7304\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Friday Sessions<\/em> by Men\u2019s Health<\/a><\/strong>, Lowe sat with Dr. Drew Ramsey to discuss maintaining mental health in the music industry and how to balance one's work and personal life. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI just wasn\u2019t feeling my best. I realized doing my best work at any given time is not what it\u2019s about. It wasn\u2019t translating into physical and mental joy for me. And it had become this thing like, \u2018I have to achieve [more],\u2019\u201d Lowe said.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In fact, Lowe said his past mindset resulted in difficulty sleeping, headaches and stress. Though he initially blamed his strenuous lifestyle on aging, he eventually decided to reduce all the stressors he could control. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI actually felt like I was enjoying it more, which I am. I\u2019m having a great time with what I do. I started making music again. I started feeling creative again,\u201d Lowe said.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Listen To Yourself<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">By developing healthier habits, Lowe learned to avoid burnout and began enjoying his career and well-being. His main takeaway: Listening. \u201cGive yourself a moment to really listen to what your body is telling you. Ask yourself, \u2018Could I feel better? Could I feel better physically? Could I feel better mentally? Could I breathe deeper? Could I experience things in a richer way?\u2019\u201d Lowe said.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Some examples of building healthy habits include limiting social media engagement, practicing meditation, or setting weekly goals.
