Barker was recently featured on Vogue\u2019s Texture Diaries, a space for Black people across industries to share their journey to self-love and how accepting their hair plays a pivotal role in that process, where she discussed how playing Marina Thompson, her character on the popular show, has aided her in fully loving her hair.<\/p>\n

Growing up, Barker often agonized over the hair process that all curly-haired women can relate to \u2013 the detangling process. Paired with the constant jokes she would receive from classmates, Barker turned to chemically straightening her hair.<\/p>\n
