Radiesse and Radiesse (+)<\/span> are volumizing dermal fillers that are FDA approved for smoothing out moderate to severe facial wrinkles. Radiesse is also used to help correct volume loss in the back of hands.<\/span><\/p>\n

Radiesse works by immediately restoring lost volume and smoothing out wrinkles with results that can last up to a year or more in patients. Radiesse is a smooth gel-filled with calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres. This material adds volume to instantly fix wrinkles and folds.<\/span><\/p>\n

HB: Who is the best candidate for this procedure?<\/span><\/h3>\n

Patients who are bothered by the appearance of wrinkles and folds in the face or lack of volume in the hands are great candidates for this product. It is also commonly used off label to add volume to cheeks and jawline.<\/span> It is not known if Radiesse products are safe to inject in the lips or around the eyes.<\/span><\/p>\n

HB: How does this treatment compare to others of the same nature?<\/span><\/h3>\n

In the following weeks after injection, this product begins to stimulate your body to produce collagen. Collagen surrounds the CaHA microspheres, which naturally get metabolized by the body over time. Collagen that was produced stays behind for results that can last up to a year or more.<\/span><\/p>\n

HB: What does recovery look like?<\/span><\/h3>\n

Very little downtime is involved with this procedure. Just like with other injectables, patients can experience side effects such as mild irritation, swelling, itching, redness, bruising and\/ or soreness at the area of injection.
