There is no single word to define the makeup trends for Spring 2017 that emerged at this year\u2019s runways. \u201cDefiance\u201d and \u201cfierce\u201d only begin to describe them. From intense glow to intrepid shades, Spring 2017 invites playful experimentation and unconventional combinations. Think of them as if the nonchalance of the 1960s has merged with the spunk of today.<\/p>\n
The Skin<\/strong><\/p>\n Bring out the bronzers, blushes and highlighters. Faces are to shimmer in ways before not imagined; and cheeks are not to carry all this glow alone. At Versace, makeup guru Pat McGrath illuminated the eyes\u2019 inner corners, the cupid\u2019s bow and \u2013 lo and behold \u2013 the nose. The eyes also get some luster with a \u201cdraping\u201d technique, as seen at Adam Selman\u2019s show, that splatters highlighter from the cheekbones all the way to the temples and onto the eyelids. No heavy looks, though. The preferred hues lean toward tender pink, pearl and peach. For fans of au naturel, a healthy dose of moisturizer might tone up the skin\u2019s to the same photo-friendly sheen.<\/p>\n What makeup artists use<\/em>: Marc Jacobs Beauty Glistening Illuminator, MAC Casual Color in For Your Amusement, Nars Illuminator Copacabana<\/p>\n The Eyes<\/strong><\/p>\n Drama rules the eyeshadow palette for Spring 2017. But not in a dark manner. Vivid hues dominate \u2013 from all-the-craze teal to bright yellow. Yet, it is their seemingly haphazard cast that induces a theatrical overtone. From thin strokes across the middle of the eyelid to solid blocks above and under the eye, eye makeup comes in matte, watercolor-like or glossy finishes, often complemented with smudged eyeliner. A brush of extra audacity is delivered with eyebrows dyed brightly, at Gucci, or glittered plentifully, at Fendi.<\/p>\n What makeup artists use<\/em>: MAC Eye Shadow, Nars Outliner Studio Carpates, Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Waterproof Gel Pencil<\/p>\n The Lips<\/strong><\/p>\n In Spring 2017, lips are bold and expressive. From flaring fuchsia to neon orange to dark purple, there is no hue that is a no-no for the season. While matte lipstick remain popular, gleam is to shine bright. But do not reach our for the lip gloss. Instead, take note from Fendi and opt for glitter and smear it across the lips or choose metallic lipsticks. Mixing lipsticks to achieve a unique shade or blotting and dabbing powder over the lips to create a velvety finish, like makeup artist Mark Carrasquillo, land a sense of thrill to Spring 2017. So does color blocking, the application of disparate hues \u2013 either complementing or contrasting \u2013 on the upper and lower lip.
