It's also a fact that come January 1, many of resolve to shed those pesky holiday pounds, be it with a diet, a renewed passion for the gym or simply abstaining from unhealthy foods. This is where <strong>Denise Austin<\/strong> comes in.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: black;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.DeniseAustin.com.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Austin<\/a> has created 100 workout videos, has written\u00a015 books, including the most recent release <\/span><span style=\"color: black;\"><i>Side Effect Skinny: Denise Austin\u2019s Fat-Blasting Diet,\u00a0<\/i>and has had two\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: black;\">major television shows:<\/span><span style=\"color: black;\"><i> Getting Fit<\/i><\/span><span style=\"color: black;\">, which ran for 10 years on ESPN and\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: black;\"><i>Denise Austin's Daily Workout<\/i><\/span><span style=\"color: black;\"> when it moved to the Lifetime Television Network. Squeeze, on the go!<\/strong><br \/>\nIsometric exercises (such as squeezing the belly or buttox muscles) truly work to tone and you can do this when at the office, on the phone, in the car, or on an airplane!<br \/>\na. You can tone your abs and glutes just by sitting down<br \/>\nb. Every time you sit down, tighten your abdominals for five second, which is equal to one sit up<br \/>\nc. The more you practice the flatter the tummy<br \/>\nd. Same goes for buttox, when going into a sitting position, squeeze and release to get a toned tushy<br \/>\ne. Do these every hour on the hour<br \/>\nf. \u201cIf you don\u2019t squeeze it no one else will\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>2.\u201cFlip the Switch\u201d \u2013 start the day off right<\/strong><br \/>\nIn the New Year, it\u2019s all about flipping the switch \u2013 focusing on positive, healthy habits<br \/>\nSTRETCHING:<br \/>\nEach morning, do one to three minutes of stretching<br \/>\nMake it a habit in the new year to \u201cwake up happy\u201d by stretching every morning<br \/>\nJump starts your day and puts you in the mindset of a healthy body<br \/>\nHelps circulation after sleep<br \/>\nOne of Denise\u2019s favorites is down-dog \u2013 a yoga move<br \/>\nPlacing hand on bed to stretch back and booty<br \/>\nDenise believes being happy and healthy begins with having the right mindset<\/p>\n<p><strong>3. Tea<\/strong><br \/>\nSwap out coffee for tea in the afternoon \u2013 green tea will perk you up and provides many benefits for your mind and body.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4. Meditation and breathing<\/strong><br \/>\nBreathing:<br \/>\nInhale through nose for a six count and out of the nose for a six count every hour on the hour<br \/>\nThis is helpful especially when overwhelmed, busy, or stressed -- will ease the mind<br \/>\nMeditation:<br \/>\nHelps with stress and it also has been shown to help lower blood pressure<br \/>\nDenise \u201csits in solo\u201d for 5 minutes every day to strengthen her ohm<br \/>\n\u201cI guide myself through to happy places I have travelled to in my life and take note of it \u2013 it helps give my brain a break and relaxes me\u201d \u2013 try to picture happy places and spots.<br \/>\nImportant thought process during meditation \u2013 gratitude, daily reflections, happy thoughts, positive thinking, optimism, daily inspiration<\/p>\n<p><strong>5. Pledge not to be hungry (mini-meal prep)<\/strong><br \/>\nFailing to prepare is preparing to fail<br \/>\nInstead of trying to find nutritional snacks while on the go, make your own!<br \/>\n\u201cI prepare snacks that are healthy and fulfilling for my day\u201d<br \/>\nTry to prepare snacks for on the go so that you are ready to fuel your body<br \/>\n\u201cI love handfuls of almonds, laced with wasabi flavor \u2013 because it is sinus clearing and satisfies that salty craving with a kick!\u201d<br \/>\nSmall apple with nut butter \u2013 good because it has energy and protein<br \/>\nToasted sunflower or pumpkin seeds on the run \u2013 packed with nutrients and protein<\/p>\n<p><strong>6. Skin!<\/strong><br \/>\nQuadrouple threat: Exfoliating, salmon, coconut oil, water<br \/>\nThese are great for skin<br \/>\nImportant to be healthy from the inside out \u2013 drink lots of water, eat salmon, and most importantly, exfoliate at least twice a week. Lather coconut oil onto skin to moisturize and keep skin healthy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>7. Sleep<\/strong><br \/>\nIt\u2019s no secret that sleep is necessary for a happy, healthy life.<br \/>\nHow to have a healthy night\u2019s rest:<br \/>\nDo high energy work outs during day like cardio &amp; strength training instead of at night<br \/>\nSave stretching and yoga for evenings to help unwind physically and mentally<br \/>\nDenise makes tea with dry chamomile flowers \u2013 let them steep for a long time and take a little before bed in evenings<br \/>\nTry not to use phone or tablet two hours before going to bed \u2013 relaxes the mind<br \/>\nHave my surroundings really dark
