California-based Smashbox Cosmetics unveiled its inaugural free-standing studio store.

With a front at 1335 Abbot Kinney Boulevard in Venice, CA, the boutique carries the label’s philosophy of creativity and collaboration that stems from its roots at the iconic photo studio Smashbox Studios in LA.

"Walking into the new Smashbox Store is like walking into one of our L.A. sets at our studio,” said Davis Factor, Smashbox Cosmetics founder and photographer. “There's so much to experience – it truly captures the imagination and inspiration that emanates from the studio."

At the opening night, on July 13th, under DJ Miss Ninja’s tunes, the store featured a “Gloss Bar,” where attendees received their personalized lip gloss to add to their gift bags. An engraver was also on site, embossing customized messages on lipstick cases.

Among the high profile guests were Carly Russ, Ashley Holm, Monika Blunder, Casey Holmes and Collier Strong among others. They continued the night at the nearby The Butcher’s Daughter restaurant, where Smashbox hosted a friends-of-the-brand dinner.

Smashbox store opened to the public today. It is to carry the label’s long-lasting makeup – from lipstick to primers – that flawlessly withstand the morning-to-evening, street-to-the-red-carpet demands of a hectic lifestyle.

Hooked to the digital makeover of beauty, the Smashbox store has a scrum of tech offers like interactive swatch stencils and 3D printed lipstick designs.  Aside from the Gloss Bar, the boutique also boasts a studio lighting set-up that allows customers to snap images of themselves and post them on an in-store digital photo wall.
