Focused on the pursuit of excellence and balancing many facets of the visual sciences, aesthetics and surgery, Dr, Shalini Kapoor MD, CM is a practicing Board Certified OculoPlastic and Hair Restoration Surgeon who brings two decades of training and education to the field of medical and surgical aesthetics. Dr. Kapoor has since gone on to become an award-winning, internationally published research scholar and speaker, active patient advocate, and a highly sought after expert in her field.
A renowned physician and surgeon, Dr. Kapoor graduated from the prestigious McGill University Faculty of Medicine with Honors in Medicine and Surgery where she was awarded a “Faculty and University Scholar" standing. She pursued fellowship training in both Oculofacial Plastic Surgery and Hair Restoration Surgery, and is currently an active fellow of the American Society for Hair Restoration Surgery.
Growing up in a teaching environment – her father is a PhD University Professor, her mother an elementary school teacher – ignited Dr. Kapoor’s lifelong passion for teaching, lecturing and training. As a young girl, she accompanied her mother to educational conventions and watched in awe as her father prepared for lectures, and she was struck by all of the passion and creativity involved. Becoming a surgeon has allowed Dr. Kapoor to combine this passion for teaching with her love for beauty, self-care and people, and to help her patients feel like their best selves
Dr. Kapoor has always had a deep passion for Hair Restoration. A true artist and expert in the field, she has helped many patients cope with hair loss, ultimately restoring their confidence. Known for combining compassion, science, artistry and an eye for aesthetics, Dr. Kapoor achieves beautiful and natural looking hair restoration using minimally invasive state-of-the-art FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) transplantation techniques. She is the director and founder of “Restoration Hair and Aesthetics” where she specializes in restoring thinning scalp and beard hair areas, as well as eye and facial rejuvenation. Dr. Kapoor, with a strong background in OculoPlastic surgery and a unique understanding of the aesthetics and anatomy of the eyelid and brow area, is a skilled expert in the art of Eyebrow Hair Restoration.
Dr. Kapoor is also a certified Allergan Medical Facial Aesthetics Trainer (AMFAST), a prestigious distinction awarded only to a select few physicians. She has trained hundreds of practitioners in Allergan neuromodulator and hyaluronic acid filler products including Botox, Juvederm, Voluma, Volbella and Vollure, well as in other cosmetic injectables, such as Restylane and Dysport by Galderma. She continues her vision for teaching and imparting her expert knowledge of aesthetics, while serving currently as an international faculty member and lecturer with the American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine and national Board Examiner for the American Board of Laser Surgery. Dr. Kapoor is also currently a Board Officer on the American Board of Laser Surgery where she is involved in creating laser surgery protocols and board examinations, while promoting Laser Safety.
Heavily active in research, Dr. Kapoor has published numerous scientific papers and has presented her research around the world. She has also received various awards for her work, including the Upjohn Achievement Award for Outstanding Clinical Research and Scientific Presentation and the International Award for Merit and Distinction in Aesthetic Medicine. She has a keen interest in research currently pertaining to fat-derived stem cells (via autologous fat transfer) and cutting edge regenerative techniques combined with PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) to enhance surgical and non-surgical hair restoration.
Dedicated to providing personalized care, Dr. Kapoor works closely with her patients to create a customized treatment plan that best fits their needs and goals, and she trains her practitioners and expert team of clinicians, whom she personally hand selects, to do the same. During trainings, she stresses the importance of not only technique and safety, but patient education and bedside manner.
With a perfect balance of “head and heart”, Dr. Kapoor continues to focus on compassionate patient care, procedure efficacy and the highest level of safety. She remains as her patients’ number one advocate by giving them a “voice”, taking the time to listen to their needs, protecting their rights, addressing concerns and questions, while always being accessible via her personal cellphone at all hours and via house calls.
Dr. Kapoor lives in Los Angeles with her two precious, fun-loving Dachshunds, Pasta and Panini. Pasta is a certified therapy dog who regularly volunteers at hospitals and veterans facilities. A true believer in the healing connection between humans and animals, she dreams of one day opening a foundation where rescues will be trained to become therapy dogs.
