Is A Liquid Nose Job Right For You?

Dr. Smita R. Ramanadham is a Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon with over a decade of surgical experience. Haute Beauty chats with Dr. Ramanadham on whether a nonsurgical is a good option for patients who are unhappy with their nose.

HB: Who is a good candidate for a liquid nose job or nonsurgical rhinoplasty?

A nonsurgical rhinoplasty is great in those patients that have minor deformities of their nose that they are unhappy with or irregularities after a surgical rhinoplasty or trauma.  While the results are not permanent and a traditional surgical rhinoplasty is the gold standard, a nonsurgical rhinoplasty definitely is a great option that we can offer to our patients. It is also great in those that may not be able to afford surgery or do not want the downtime associated with surgery.

HB: How does the procedure work?

Fillers are injected into the nose to address various deformities a patient may have about their nose, such as a hump or asymmetry for example. This is an in-office procedure that patients tolerate very well with minimal pain.  Ice packs or numbing cream can typically be used to improve comfort.  Results generally last 6mo-1 yr but may be longer depending on the filler used.  The injector must have a thorough understanding of the anatomy of the nose especially of the blood vessels to ensure this is a safe and effective procedure.

HB: Do you prefer it to other methods?

In the right candidate, it is a great procedure.

HB: What does recovery look like?

Patients generally recover well with little to no downtime.  There may be some swelling and bruising as you would see with a typical filler injected elsewhere but this will resolve within 24-72 hours.
