Ever since the hit series Friends aired in the 90s, people have been fawning over Jennifer Aniston’s hair. So much so that people named her style “The Rachel” and it's one that people are still trying to replicate through various blowout styles. “The Rachel” was created by Jennifer’s expert hairstylist, Chris McMillan.
With all of the buzz that Jennifer’s hair has created, it doesn’t come as much of a shock that her hair magic doesn’t necessarily come naturally. Over her many years of acting, her hair team has created a carefully curated hair routine, and now, to celebrate her 53rd birthday, her beauty team is sharing their must-have products. It comes as no surprise that some of the beauty products in her regular rotation come from her own beauty line, LolaVie.
Maintaining Color
Jennifer Aniston basically invented what is now referred to as the expensive brunette. So, her tips for maintaining healthy hair with a natural, California glow are definitely worth the read. None of her blonde/brunette hair color magic would be possible without the help of her color Michael Canalé who has been perfecting the star’s hair for 30 years to reach the warm sandy caramel color we all know and love.
While you may not be able to carry out Canalé’s coloring techniques at home, like color bathing and “adding a ‘glisten’ look at the root”, you can incorporate some of the same products in your own regimen. He claims the products that help seal the star’s color are his Midnight Blue Signature Gloss and the Rita Hazan True Color Ultimate Shine Gloss.

Oftentimes you might feel like your freshly dyed hair is already diminishing in color. To slow down the fade, use the Midnight Blue Signature Gloss designed to enhance and extend your color.

As mentioned, another highly recommended product is the Rita Hazan True Color Ultimate Shine Gloss - a shine-enhancing mousse made specifically for blonde hair and highlights.
Rinse and Repeat
Aniston and her team heavily stress the importance of developing a regimented schedule for shampoo and conditioner. She seems to enjoy having options as she regularly rotates between Living Proof No Frizz Shampoo and Drunk Elephant Cocomino Glossing Shampoo. McMillan values the importance of a good condition treatment he tells Vogue, “Would you moisturize your jawline or forehead? No! You’re going to moisturize your entire face. Conditioner is moisturizer for your hair!” Following a good cleanse, she gives her hair needed moisture by using Cocomino Marula Cream conditioner or her colorist's Canalé Soften Conditioner, working it through the entirety of her hair with a wide-tooth comb.

Care and Keeping
Jennifer relies on good detanglers to tend to her hair when wet or towel-dried. Her brand, LolaVie, makes a plant-based Glossing Detangler that doubles as a heat protectant, how convenient! She combines the multi-purpose detangler with the Perfecting Leave-In conditioner, working the product through the end of her hair with her fingers.
Along with that, Jennifer has some important products worked into her hair routine that she uses less frequently like masks and scrubs. Her favorites include the Living Proof Restore Mask, which she uses weekly, and the Drunk Elephant T.L.C. Happi Scalp Scrub.

Exfoliating your skin is just as important as exfoliating your scalp. Only use the scrub when your hair and scalp are completely dry. The scrub is to be placed on your scalp and after 10 minutes, gently massage the wash and rise through before proceeding with your regular hair wash routine.
How to Style
We all know the importance of keeping up with haircuts/trims to keep hair healthy. Jennifer and her team practice what they preach, so the actress gets a haircut, no matter how minimal, every four weeks. When it comes to styling, Aniston likes to keep things looking natural. McMillan shared his methods with Vogue, “Jen’s hair always looks like you can touch it, it’s not sprayed into place.” He achieves the effortlessly tousled look through the use of different Ibiza Hair round brushes (EX4 and EX5), good hairsprays, and a handy-dandy blow-dryer. McMillan finishes the look off with a variety of products including a paste and serum. He explains that he usually uses one of those products in combination with light hairspray that doesn’t restrict the hair’s movement too much. When trying to add a little extra volume to the look, he also adds velcro rollers at the crown of the hair for a laidback style.
