- Bio Michael Tilson Thomas is Music Director of the San Francisco Symphony, Founder and Artistic Director of the New World Symphony and Principal Guest Conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra. Affectionately known as MTT, he is the third generation of his family to follow an artistic career. Since becoming Music Director in 1995, Michael Tilson Thomas has led the transformation of the San Francisco Symphony into one of the world’s leading ensembles.
