- Bio Since entering office as Lieutenant Governor in 1997, Gavin Newsom has championed innovative public policies. As a member of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, then as mayor of San Francisco and now in his current role, he’s been a political visionary on issues of equality, the environment, homelessness and healthcare. His wife, Jennifer Siebel Newsom, is an advocate for women’s rights. She is a filmmaker, speaker and President and CEO of the non-profit organization The Representation Project.
