- Bio Carlos Slim is the Chairman and CEO of Telmex, a telecommunications enterprise based in Mexico City, which operates 90 percent of the telephone lines in Mexico. Its sister company, America Movil, is the largest mobile phone company in Latin America. Slim also owns Grupo Carso, one of Mexico’s major business conglomerates. Slim is also an investor in several New York properties and is the biggest shareholder of Saks Inc.
