The Waldorf Astoria Las Vegas Hotel & Residences marked its official arrival on the Las Vegas Strip at the start of the Labor Day weekend. The iconic property has replaced the Mandarin Oriental in the 16,797,000-square-foot CityCenter complex, which includes Aria, Vdara, Crystals, Veer Towers and neighboring Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas.
Non-gaming and non-smoking, the Hilton Management Services-operated property will undergo an 18-month redesign of its public spaces as well as its 389 guestrooms and 225 residences (including 55 suites and three expansive Presidential Suites).
“Two remarkable personalities are being united as Waldorf Astoria arrives in the legendary city of Las Vegas,” said General Manager Donald Bowman. “With this meeting of two icons, we can afford guests with tailor-made moments, offering inspirational environments both within the hotel and throughout our exciting city.”

While the 23rd-floor Mandarin Bar has become the SkyBar and 3rd-floor MOzen Bistro has become Zen Kitchen, the tea lounge and Michelin-star rated chef Pierre Gagnaire’s Twist remain as is. The Waldorf Astoria Las Vegas also includes a Forbes 5-Star spa, convention space overlooking the Strip, and personal guest concierges.
The original Waldorf Astoria has a long and venerable history. The Park Avenue location in New York City, which opened in 1931, has hosted countless presidents and celebrities. It closed in March 2017 for an estimated $1 billion in renovations through approximately 2020.
The hotel brand now has locations across the globe, including North America, Asia, Europe, the Caribbean, Central America and the Middle East. Their the most recent opening was the Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills back in June 2017.
New Kid On The Culinary Block

Labor Day Weekend also brought a new kid on the culinary block at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas.
Block 16 Urban Food Hall includes a curated sextet of fast-casual eateries serving chef-made cuisine from some of the country’s finest food destinations including New Orleans, New York City, Oregon and Nashville. The six Block 16 restaurants include popular New Orleans hotspot District: Donuts. Sliders. Brew.; New York City tequila and mezcal bar Ghost Donkey; the first west coast location for Nashville’s Hattie B’s Hot Chicken; the fully-loaded sandwiches of Portland Chef Rick Gencarelli’s Lardo; James Beard Award-winning Chef Andy Ricker’s Pok Pok Wing of Portland; and a Las Vegas original, Tekka Bar: Handroll & Sake.
The Block 16 Urban Food Hall is located on the second level of the resort’s Boulevard Tower.
